COVID-19-related travel restrictions in Monserrat remain mostly unchanged as of May 17 except for new protocols for vaccinated individuals.
Event
As of May 17, the COVID-19-related travel restrictions in force in Montserrat remain largely unchanged by comparison with those in place during early March; however, authorities have implemented new protocols for fully vaccinated inbound travelers, allowing for a shorter quarantine period. Most nonresident leisure travelers remain banned from traveling to Montserrat. Entry is restricted to Montserratian citizens, permanent residents, and homeowners and their dependents; business travelers, technicians, disaster aid workers, persons traveling for legal purposes, and authorized family members are also allowed to enter. Aircraft and ship crew members are exempt from the entry restrictions. There is no travel ban on international cargo transport.
Travelers allowed to enter Montserrat must submit an access declaration form at least 72 hours ahead of booking their travel and possess proof of having tested negative for COVID-19 within five days prior to arrival. Most unvaccinated or partially vaccinated arriving travelers must also self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of entry, as well as test negative between 12 and 14 days after arrival. Most fully vaccinated travelers are required to adhere to a shorter quarantine of 10 days and must test negative between eight and 10 days after arrival. Aircraft and ship crew members, individuals holding remote employment stamps, and people with work permits issued by the Montserrat government are exempt from the quarantine measure. Passenger travel to the island is only allowed by air through John A. Osborne Airport (MNI). All testing and quarantine requirements are expected to last through at least June 20.
Domestic Measures
Domestically, minimal restrictions are in place on Montserrat. Group gatherings are limited to a maximum of 50 people. All businesses, schools, and religious establishments have resumed operation; however, long-standing pandemic-related protocols for businesses and various facilities will remain in place until further notice. Establishments must enforce social distancing measures, use enhanced sanitization procedures, and comply with other sector-specific precautionary measures. All persons are required to wear protective face coverings in public and business establishments.
Authorities may amend travel and business restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on COVID-19 activity.
