An explosion in the Police District (PD) 8 area of Jalalabad, Nangarhar Province, killed at least one police officer and injured at least two others, the morning of May 18. A roadside improvised explosive device (IED), targeting a police vehicle, reportedly caused the blast. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.

Authorities will probably increase security near the blast site to investigate the incident. Localized traffic disruptions are possible.
