Officials in Virginia have issued orders to lift the commonwealth's existing curfew and ease several restrictions on business operations and gatherings effective March 1 due to decreases in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations. Under the new directives, the nightly 0001-0500 curfew, which has been in place statewide since late 2020, will end; however, authorities continue to urge residents to limit activities outside their homes. Additionally, outdoor social gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed, while indoor social gatherings must continue to be limited to 10 persons. Sports and entertainment venues must continue limiting occupancy to 30 percent of legal capacity. Food and drink establishments will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages and remain open until midnight. Establishments allowed to open must follow enhanced sanitation procedures, comply with social distancing guidelines, and require sick employees to stay home.
