Local reports indicate officers shot and apprehended an armed individual who shot a hostage in a restaurant during a standoff with the authorities. The conditions of the victim and the perpetrator are unclear. Police believe the suspect was involved in several other shootings near Kenwood on Chicago's South Side earlier the same day; reports indicate at least two fatalities in the earlier incidents.
