Law enforcement officials are working to disperse groups of opposing political demonstrators in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego, Calif, as of the afternoon of Jan. 9. Earlier in the day, supporters of President Donald J. Trump held a march near the Crystal Pier. The Trump supporters were met and reportedly attacked by Anti-Fascist (Antifa) groups with teargas and hard objects. Police have employed riot control tactics, including tear gas, in an attempt to disperse the crowds.

The San Diego Police Department has declared the gatherings as unlawful due to acts of violence. Police are asking residents to avoid the area as officers attempt to disperse the crowd. Localized transport disruptions and additional clashes are likely in the area.
