Suspected robbers kill MP in Abeadze Dominase (Central region) on October 9; heightened security expected

Suspected robbers shot and killed the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman, Ekow Quansah Hayford of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and his driver in the Abeadze Dominase area of Central region on Friday, October 9. The assailants set up a roadblock on the Abeadze Dominase - Abeadze Duadzi - Mankessim Road and fired on their vehicle after the driver attempted to pass through the roadblock. The robbers shot Hayford after he disclosed that he was a Member of Parliament, reportedly blaming him and other politicians for perceived socio-economic issues in the country. 

The assailants remain at large and therefore a heightened security presence should be expected as police operations are likely to be ongoing.
