Transport workers schedule strike throughout urban centers on October 11-12

A 48-hour transport strike is scheduled to take place from Sunday, October 11 to Monday, October 12, throughout urban centers of Bangladesh. The strike is being held to demand changes to the Road Transport Act. Associated demonstrations are likely to occur throughout urban centers including at the Department of Road Transport and Highways in Dhaka and at Chittagong Port. Additionally, transport workers have announced that if their demands are not met further strikes will take place.

A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the vicinity of any protest sites, and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in the areas affected.
