There have been reports of casualties after a vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) on the outskirts of Mogadishu on Thursday, September 17. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Ex. Afgoye checkpoint early on Thursday afternoon. The target of the attack was believed to be a security official. No official confirmation of casualties has been confirmed; however, some sources indicate at least two people were killed in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although Al-Shabaab has been responsible for similar incidents in the capital in the past.
