Protesters intend to gather in Lahore (Punjab province) and Karachi (Sindh province) on Thursday, September 17, to protest against the recent gang rape of a woman on a motorway in Lahore. The Jamaat-e-Islami party has called for protesters to gather outside of the Chief Minister of Punjab's Office in Lahore. Meanwhile, in Karachi, demonstrators are expected to gather at the Karachi Press Club between 17:00 and 19:00 (local time).
A heightened security presence, as well as associated disruptions to transportation, are possible around the demonstration sites.
