Gunmen reportedly attacked a police headquarters in Gidan Madi, in the Tangaza Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto state on Thursday, September 17. At least two police officers were killed, including a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), and another injured. Reports state that at least 100 gunmen stormed the base while wearing army uniforms. Two women were reportedly abducted during the attack, with local media alleging that they are the wives of prominent local businessmen.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the incident. Further attacks in Sokoto state are possible in the medium term.
