Tropical Depression 22 formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, approximately 370km (230mi) east of Tampico (Tamaulipas) on Thursday, September 17. Tropical Depression 22 is currently sustaining winds of 35mph (55kph) and is moving northeast. The Depression is currently forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm by Friday, September 18, as it moves over the western Gulf of Mexico. The current path of the storm remains unclear; however, it may move towards the coast of northern Tamaulipas and southern Texas (US) by Monday, September 21.
