Three civilians were killed and two others injured after being caught in crossfire amid clashes between African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops and Al Shabaab militants on Monday, June 8, northeast of Janaale in Lower Shabelle region. Clashes occurred after militants ambushed a security convoy near Janaale. It is unclear as of Wednesday, June 10, whether there were any AMISOM or militant fatalities.

Further clashes are possible in the region over the near term.
