According to media sources on Monday, June 15, at least four people were killed after their vehicle fell from a collapsed bridge in Oko-Erin, Ilorin (Kwara state) following heavy rainfall on Saturday, June 13. Emergency responders remain at the scene in recovery efforts as others may have been on the bridge at the time of its collapse. Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected areas.  

Further adverse weather is expected in the near term.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
