China: Rescue efforts ongoing in Wenling city (Zhejiang province) June 14

Emergency teams continue search and rescue operations in Wenling (Zhejiang province) on Sunday, June 14, following the explosion of gas tanker truck which occurred on Saturday, June 13. At approximately 16:45 (local time) a tank truck carrying liquified gas exploded near the Liangshan village in Wenling. According to reports, a second blast occurred after the truck fell onto a workshop near the expressway, causing some nearby residential houses and factory workshops to collapse. Media sources reported on Sunday that the death toll had risen to 14, with a further 168 people injured.

Overland disruptions in the vicinity of the incident should be anticipated as emergency operations continue.
