Provincial health officials confirmed that 97 people were killed when a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane, flight PK-8303, crashed in Model Colony (Karachi) on approach to Jinnah International Airport (KHI) at approximately 14:45 (local time) on Friday, May 22. According to authorities, there are two survivors from the crash, but 97 of the 91 passengers and eight crew on board were killed in the incident. At least 11 other people on the ground are also reported to have been injured in the crash, although it is currently unclear whether any others remain missing following the collapse of several residential buildings at the crash site.

Localized disruption is anticipated around the crash site in the near term due to ongoing emergency response and investigative operations.
