Transport authorities in Wellington announced disruptions to all rail services in North Island are expected through to evening (local time) on Thursday, October 3, after the National Train Control was evacuated following a suspected bomb threat. As of 15:35 on Thursday, authorities have allowed staff to return to Wellington Railway Station but have warned of cancelations and delays throughout the day, including in Wellington and Auckland.

An increased demand for alternative modes of transport is also expected in the coming hours.
