The Chalecos Mexico civil society group has called for nationwide demonstrations - known as the March of Silence - on Sunday, May 5, to denounce the policies of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO). In Mexico City, protests are slated to begin at 11:00 (local time) at the Angel de la Independencia. Associated demonstrations are expected in cities nationwide, including Hermosillo (Sonora state), Monterrey (Nuevo Leone state), Irapuato (Guanajuato state), Tijuana (Baja California state), and Querétaro (Querétaro state), among others. 

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near all demonstration sites.
