Protests in Gonaïves commune (Artibonite department) scheduled for May 13-15; associated business disruptions likely over coming days

Businesses are slated to close in Gonaïves commune (Artibonite department) on Monday, May 13, through Wednesday, May 15, to denounce growing insecurity as a result of gang violence in the area and to demand that authorities establish a stable security environment. A peaceful march is also scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, at 09:00 (local time) from Carrefour Basin towards the city center.

Associated business disruptions are likely over the coming days. Additional protests and subsequent traffic disruptions, as well as the risk of associated violence,  are all possible.
