False bomb alert at government building in Yerevan May 14; heightened security presence likely over coming hours

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has indicated that an earlier report of an explosive device in Government Building No. 3 in Yerevan on Tuesday, May 14, was determined to be false. The report was received at 14:18 (local time), and a fire and rescue squad, as well as a crisis management operative team, were dispatched to the scene. Those in the building were initially evacuated; after determining the report to be a hoax, staff were permitted to reenter the building.

A heightened security presence remains likely in the affected area over the coming hours.
