Truck drivers call off nationwide strike April 18; transportation and travel disruptions remain possible

The Portuguese government has announced, on Thursday April 18, that the truck drivers' strike initiated on Monday, April 15, has ended. Fuel truck drivers have reportedly agreed to resume negotiations with the government notably over better working conditions.

Lingering transportation disruptions in Faro, Lisbon, and Porto, as well as flight disruptions (e.g. delays and cancelations) at Faro (FAO) and Lisbon (LIS) airports remain possible over the coming hours and days.

The nationwide strike, which began on Monday, April 15, has affected airports, fire stations, ports, public transportation, and gas stations in Lisbon, Faro, and Porto, among other cities, leading to an energy crisis across the country declared by the government on April 16.
