The US National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter weather warning for the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic regions, including Washington, DC, Baltimore (Maryland), and Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) for Wednesday, February 20. An estimated 7.5-18 cm (3-7 in) of snow is expected to fall along with freezing rain and sleet between 01:00 (local time) and 19:00. The warnings are in effect from portions of western North Carolina to central Pennsylvania; however, areas as far north as New York City (New York) and Connecticut may be affected. Most snow is expected to fall in the morning before transitioning to mixed precipitation. Hazardous road conditions are likely and flight disruptions, including delays and cancelations, are possible.
