British Transport Police (BTP) launched a murder investigation on a South Western Railway train in Surrey on the afternoon (local time) of Friday, January 4. According to initial reports, a man was stabbed to death between the Clandon and Horsely stations on the London Waterloo to Guilford lines. Police are still searching for the suspected attacker and the incident is not considered to be terror related. As of approximately 20:32, trains traveling in the direction of Guildford will not stop at Clandon or Horsely and delays are expected between Guildford and Effingham Junction. Replacement buses have been sent to mitigate ongoing transportation disruptions in the area.
