Informational

Event

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced in early January that all domestic flights to and from Jeddah will operate from the new King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) by mid-2019. While some domestic flights have operated from the new airport following a "soft opening" in May 2018, officials indicated the facility will become fully operational during the second half of 2019 following a transfer of ownership to a private management company. The new airport is situated next to current airport facilities, and will be accessible by new access roads and a train station.

Advice

Travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation and contact their airlines for information on the new facility.
