“Unhealthy” to “hazardous” air quality levels forecast for Zhengzhou and Beijing January 11-14

High levels of pollution were recorded at Zhengzhou (Henan province) and Beijing on Friday, January 11, causing poor air quality for the cities and their surrounding regions that is forecast to persist in the coming days. Forecasted air quality levels range from "unhealthy" to "hazardous" for areas from Zhengzhou to Beijing and extending as far north as Hebei province. Fine particulate measurements of over 600 were recorded on Friday in some locations ("hazardous" air quality is measurements over 300). High levels of pollution are expected to continue through at least Monday, January 14.
