Residents of Old Dhaka are celebrating as of Tuesday, January 15, the Shakrain Festival, which is one of the oldest annual festival in Bangladesh. Context

Shakrain Festival is celebrated at the end of Poush, the ninth month of the Bengali calendar (January 14 or 15 in the Gregorian calendar). It is one of the oldest annual festivals of Bangladesh, a major event in Bangladeshi culture, a symbol of unity and friendship. It is also celebrated by the Hindu community in India and Nepal.
