India: Low visibility disrupts operations at Delhi airport Dec. 25
Over 80 flights delayed, others cancelled and diverted at New Dehli airport on December 25; fog, frost, and cold wave to prevail until this weekend

On Tuesday, December 25, flight operations were partially suspended at Indira Gandhi International airport (DEL) in New Delhi due to low visibility conditions, impacting flight departures and arrivals. More than 80 flights were delayed, two canceled, and five diverted. On Tuesday morning (local time), the low visibility prompted airport authorities to issue the Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) protocol, requiring among other points a minimum runway visibility of 125 m (410 ft) in order to take off. According to weather authorities, dense fog, ground frost, and cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in New Delhi region in the next three-four days. As such, further transportation disruptions are to be anticipated.
