According to local reports, thousands of people, in addition to roughly 800 police officers in riot gear, gathered beginning the evening of Monday, November 26, to show support for worshipers resulting in localized traffic disruptions. Officials advised residents to avoid the area due to traffic and road closures.

Context

The dispute over the relocation of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya has been ongoing since 2007. A local property developer claims temple representatives agreed to relocate the temple to a nearby location in March 2014, although some worshipers have reportedly impeded the move.
