France: Demonstration in Paris, other cities October 13

Climate activist groups to march in Paris, other French cities on October 13; heightened security measures and traffic disruptions expected

A demonstration led by climate-activist group Friends of the Earth (Amis de la Terre) is planned in Paris on Saturday, October 13. Participants will reportedly gather at Place de l'Opéra beginning at 13:00 (local time) and begin marching along Rue Réaumur, Rue de Turbigo, and Rue du Temple, ending at Place de la République at 14:30. The rally is scheduled to end at 19:00. The Paris Prefecture of Police will suspend traffic along the demonstration route beginning at 13:00. The group has reportedly organized additional rallies in other French cities, including in Bordeaux, Dijon, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Strasbourg and Toulouse. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near the demonstration sites.
