Protests in Baní, La Romana, Neyba, Mao, Bonao, Jarabacoa, Jima Abajo, Sosúa, Moca, and Santo Domingo Oeste October 23

Protests are set to take place in various Dominican cities on Tuesday, October 23, to denounce rising fuel prices and demand the PLD party (Partido de la Liberación Dominicana) leave the government. Sit-ins and human chains are expected beginning at 17:00 (local time) in parks in the following towns and cities: Baní, La Romana, Neyba, Mao, Bonao, Jarabacoa, Jima Abajo, Sosúa, Moca, and Santo Domingo Oeste.

Furthermore, an associated general strike is scheduled to take place in the Cibao region (Región Norte; provinces of Duarte, Hermanas, Mirabal, María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde Cibao, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, and Sánchez Ramírez) on October 29.
