General elections will be held throughout Sweden on Sunday, September 9, to elect all 349 members of Riksdag, the country's national legislature. The Riksdag will, in turn, elect the country's prime minister. Political gatherings are likely to take place in the weeks leading up to the election. Although the electoral period is expected to pass off smoothly, an increased security presence is expected in the vicinity of all election events.
