Morocco: Royal Air Maroc cancels more flights August 9 /update 5

Royal Air Maroc cancels six flights on August 9; further flight delays and cancelations expected in the coming days

Warning

Event

Morocco’s national airline, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), has canceled at least six flights on Thursday, August 9, amid ongoing tensions with the national pilot union, the National Trade Union of Moroccan Pilots (AMPL). The dispute between the groups began in mid-July. Further delays and cancelations are expected in the coming days. RAM has permitted affected travelers to postpone their flights (before August 15) or receive a refund.

Context

RAM has canceled 160 flights since July 20. According to the airline, the disruptions are due to a pilot strike. However, AMPL has denied that such a strike is being held, saying pilots are simply refusing to work on their days off.

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
