Switzerland: Air traffic controller strike July 23-27

Air traffic controllers at Geneva, Bern, Lugano, Sion, Grenchen, and Emmen airports to stage strike July 23-27; flight disruptions anticipated

Air traffic controllers at Geneva Airport (GVA), Bern Airport (BRN), Lugano Airport (LUG), Sion Airport (SIR), Grenchen/Granges Airport (ZHI), and Emmen Airport (EML), are expected to stage a strike from Monday, July 23, to Friday, July 27. On Monday, the strike will last from 06:00 to 10:00 (local time). On Tuesday, July 24, workers will strike from 06:00 to 10:00 and again from 20:30 to 00:30. From Wednesday, July 25, to Friday, July 27, the strike will last from 06:00 to 00:30 daily. According to the Skycontrol trade union, the strike will affect approximately 50 domestic flights per day, in addition to an estimated 3500 flights flying over Swiss airspace. If the strike goes ahead, flight delays and cancelations are to be anticipated, including potential disruptions to international flights to and from Switzerland.
