Protesters obstructed the road linking Nouakchott and Rosso in Trarza state on the morning of Friday, July 27 (local time). The demonstration, made up of people from Libaird (some 34 km [21 mi] northwest of Rosso), was reportedly organized to demand improved access to drinking water; the protesters disrupted traffic on the road for several hours before security forces dispersed the protest and cleared the route.
