Japan: All Nippon Airways cancels more flights (for engine inspection) from July 13 through July 22

On Monday, July 9, ANA cancelled more than 170 flights originally scheduled to depart between July 13 and July 22, in order to inspect its aircrafts’ engines. 110 flights had already been cancelled for a similar reason one week earlier. The Japanese carrier has said it needs to address compressor issues that have led to service disruptions for various airlines. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Air New Zealand have had to make inspections on some of their planes.

Context

ANA is Japan’s largest airline, and operates flights to domestic and international destinations. Its main domestic hubs are Tokyo International Airport (Haneda; HND) and Osaka International Airport (Itami; ITM).
