Honduras: Taxi driver protests possible in Tegucigalpa

Protests, strikes, and roadblocks by taxi drivers possible in Tegucigalpa over increased municipal fees

Warning

Event

Protests and strikes by taxi drivers in the capital Tegucigalpa are possible in the coming days. Taxi union representatives remain in talks with the municipal authorities over rising vehicle fees but negotiations seemed to be at an impasse as of the evening of July 10. A related demonstration was held on July 6, during which hundreds of taxis were used to block traffic in the city.

Advice

Individuals in Tegucigalpa, and Honduras more generally, are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution and to never attempt to cross a roadblock without authorization.
