French Authorities will deploy over 30,000 security personnel for the 2018 Tour de France bicycle race running from July 7 to July 29. The massive deployment is intended to ensure the safety of the participating cyclists as well as the over 10 million fans expected to attend the race. Police, firefighters, private security officers, bomb-sniffing dogs, and police aircraft will help provide security for the event. Transportation disruptions and detours are to be expected along the race course, particularly on Sunday, July 29, in Paris near the Champs-Élysées.
