South Korea: March planned near DMZ May 26

March planned near the Korean Demilitarized Zone on May 26

Informational

Event

Peace activists from South Korea and elsewhere are planning to hold a march on Saturday, May 26, near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas. The march will start at the Bridge of Unification (Tongil Bridge) and finish at the Dorasan Peace Park. Activities scheduled at the DMZ, including guided tours, could be impacted by the march.

Context

The march is being held to call for a peace treaty between South Korea and North Korea. Some of the scheduled participants previously took part in the "Women Cross DMZ" campaign in May 2015, when foreign women crossed the demilitarized zone to call for talks.

Advice

Individuals present in South Korea are advised to maintain a safe distance from all protests.
