A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Badakhshan province around 15:41 (local time) on Wednesday, May 9, near the border with Tajikistan. The epicenter was located 36 km (22 mi) northwest of Ishkashim (Tajikistan). Tremors have been felt in Kabul as well as border areas in Tajikistan and Pakistan. No damages or casualties have been reported as of Wednesday afternoon.
