Colombia: Medical worker strike in Santa Marta April 10-12

Employees at 25 ESE medical facilities in the city of Santa Marta (Magdalena department) launched a strike at 06:00 (local time) Tuesday, April 10, that will run until midnight on April 12. The strike is being held to draw attention to medical shortages affecting the city as well as the non-payment of salaries to some 400 workers. Healthcare services will be limited in the city during the strike; emergency rooms will remain open but non-urgent cases may be turned away and significantly increased waiting times are likely.
