USA: Winter storm to hit northeast March 20-22

Yet another winter storm could strike the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions of the country beginning on Tuesday, March 20. According to current forecasts, the Washington, DC, area is expected to receive up to 15 cm (6 in) of snow on Tuesday, with southern New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island) receiving up to 10 cm (4 in). If the storm progresses northward, it could strike eastern Massachusetts, including the Boston area, on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, potentially resulting in coastal flooding.

Significant transportation disruptions (air, rail, road) are possible throughout the region, along with power outages.

Three major winter storms - Quinn, Riley, and Skylar - have hit the northeast since the beginning of March, resulting in major transportation disruptions, days-long power outages, and at least nine deaths.
