Météo France issues orange weather warnings for snow in south March 19-20; travel disruptions possible

Météo France has issued orange alerts (the second highest on a four-tiered scale) for snow and ice in for the southern departments of Ariège, Aude, Pyrénées-Orientales, and Tarn. The alerts are currently set to remain in place until 11:00 (local time) on Tuesday, March 20. Between 2-5 cm (1-2 in) of snowfall is expected in most areas, with up to 25 cm (10 in) in higher elevation areas. The snow could result in road, rail, and air travel disruptions.

Context
Approximately 2-3 cm (1 in) of snowfall occurred overnight March 18-19 in the north, including the Paris region. The orange alerts for snow previously in place for the north have been lifted.

Individuals present in affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm travel reservations, and allow additional time for travel in affected areas.
