Manhunt continues following two separate knife attacks in Vienna on March 7; four people injured

As of 04:00 (local time) on Thursday, March 8, Vienna police continue to seek the suspected assailant responsible for stabbing three people in the Leopoldstadt neighborhood on the evening of Wednesday, March 7. A different suspect was arrested for alleged involvement in a second stabbing that took place near Praterstern shortly afterward. The four victims were hospitalized following the attacks. Authorities have not yet determined if the two attacks are related. 

Context

At approximately 19:45 on March 7, a knife-wielding man stabbed three pedestrians in Leopoldstadt, near the entrance to the Nestroyplatz metro station. Following the attack, a fourth person was also stabbed near Praterstern. Nestroyplatz metro station was briefly closed during the initial investigation.
