France: Severe weather alerts in effect January 8

Alerts in effect January 8 in eastern France due to risk of flooding, storms, and avalanche

The French meteorological authorities (Météo France) have issued orange alerts, the second-highest level on a four-point scale, for various areas of eastern France for Monday, January 8. Flood and/or storm alerts are in effect in seven departments in the northeast (Aisne, Ardennes, Marne, Meuse, Haute-Saône, Doubs, Jura) and six in the southeast (Alpes-Maritimes, Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, Hérault, Aveyron). Additionally, avalanche alerts in are in effect in the southeastern departments of Savoie and Hautes-Alpes.
