China: Heavy rain in the south; cold front forecast (blue alert)

Meteorological authorities renewed a blue alert for heavy rain in the south.

Meteorological authorities on Sunday, January 7, renewed a blue alert - its lowest level in a four-tier warning system - for heavy rain in the south. Up to 8 cm (3 in) of rain was expected in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Fujian through 20:00 (local time) on Monday. Meanwhile, meteorological authorities also renewed a blue alert for a cold front expected to hit various areas January 7-9.
