Truck explosion in central Buenos Aires around 05:15 on December 14; police do not believe it to be an attack

A powerful explosion was reported in central Buenos Aires around 05:15 (local time) on Thursday, December 14. According to police, the source of the explosion was the compressed natural gas tank of a truck parked at the corner of Perón and Uriburu streets, some six blocks from the Congress building. Damage has been reported within a 50-m (160-ft) radius of the truck. Police are on the scene and have blocked off the area. They do not believe the incident was intended as an attack; the truck may have been set on fire as an act of vandalism. It is unclear if there were any casualties.
