France: Public transit strike in Marseille November 17

Public transit workers strike in Marseille November 17; major transportation disruptions expected

Warning

Event

Public transit workers in Marseille are on strike as of Friday, November 17, to protest the dismissal of a tram driver. Major transportation disruptions are expected throughout the day.

Metro line 1 has been entirely suspended and significant disruptions have been announced on metro line 2. All tram lines have been suspended for the day, with the exception of line 2 whose service will be restored at 17:00 (local time). Moreover, most bus services have been suspended and delays and overcrowding on available services are to be anticipated. Increased road congestion and increased demand for taxis is also likely as commuters seek alternate means of transportation.

Advice

Travelers are advised to allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
