Armed police respond to reports of an active gunman at Mandalay Bay Casino, Las Vegas on October 1; one suspect neutralized, continue to avoid the area

As of 00:30 (local time) on Monday, October 2, police remain on the scene following an active gunman situation at Mandalay Bay casino in Las Vegas.  The incident began at approximately 23:00 on October 1. There are unconfirmed reports of at least two people killed and others injured. The local police have confirmed that one suspect has been neutralized but it is unclear if the situation is under control or if there is are further gunmen. The police operation is ongoing and the Las Vegas Strip remains on lockdown. There are also reports that Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport (LAS) has been placed on lockdown.
