Burundi: Rwagasore Day celebrated October 13

Context

Rwagasore day celebrates Prime Minister Louis Rwagasore, who briefly led the country as it negotiated independence from Belgium. Rwagasore was assassinated on October 13, 1961 – just two weeks after his inauguration – by pro-Belgian extremists, and is a revered national figure.
