Context

Gauri Lankesh was shot and killed at her home in Bengaluru on September 12 by armed men on a passing motorcycle. Officials have not yet determined the motive or those responsible for the crime. Lankesh was considered one of India’s most respected journalists, known for her support of secular and leftist causes. She was buried with full state honors.
