Temperatures forecast to exceed 50°C (122°F) in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern province during the week of July 4 to July 11

The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) of Saudi Arabia warned on Tuesday, July 4, that temperatures in Eastern province could surpass 50°C (122°F) at least through Tuesday, July 11. During the same period, temperatures are expected to reach 48°C (118°F) in the capital of Riyadh.

Advice

Individuals in affected areas are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activity, to remain well-hydrated (with sugar-free, non-alcoholic beverages), to wear loose, light-colored clothing, and to remain indoors during the hottest part of the day (generally between 10:00 and 15:00). Do not hesitate to seek medical attention if displaying symptoms of heatstroke (headache, dizziness, muscle weakness, lack of sweating despite high heat, rapid heartbeat, etc.).
